What a fun afternoon, we had demos in making a stencil with a hot glue gun, weaving and felting demonstrations, how to make a tapestry loom out of copper pipe, fun snacks as usual, show and tell and our silent auction table. We kept busy either working on a project or learning to do something new. Thank you Jennifer, Priscilla and Suzanne for bringing supplies and demonstrating.
Priscilla talked about the The Great Tapestry of Scotland. Really worth checking out online or in Scotland. Here is link to a video with pretty good close ups.
She also recommended a book "Marking Time"
Suzanne showed Marie how to get started felting. |
Priscilla explains tapestry weaving and brought several of her copper pipe looms that she made. the PDF for the loom as at the end. |
These are several examples of Priscilla's tapestry pieces. |
I posted several loom pictures in case anyone wants to make one. |
Intense concentration |
Treasures to be found on our silent auction tables. |
Show and Tell
Pat brought this wonderful 90 year old needlepoint, with beads worked into it. |
Pat also brought this scene she made a long time ago. |
Susan was excited to have Nancy finish this basket for her. She has been sorting through things getting ready for a big move and found this basket partially finished. |
This is a very heavy quilt that Susan made out of her husband's Pendelton wool shirts. |
Suzanne needle felted this wonderful goat and cat face |
Wendy finished a queen size quilt, all with 24" different blocks out of batiks. |
Lin wove this lovely runner. |
Lin is also preparing for a class with India Flint on eco printing. She likes to see what fabrics will work best with the substances she will use. |
Marie is making fabric and button hair ornaments. |
She also showed this bag woven out of knit strips. |
Jane made this wonderful stitching in Stitch Club. |
Priscilla showed us more of her weekly weavings. She will show us Soumak Tapestry in February. |
