Painting with Thread with Priscilla Lynch

Priscilla is an amazing fiber artist. Following are several samples of different types of thread painting or free motion embroidery. She uses many types of fabric, quite often a very heavy painters canvas as she can just fuse this to pellon and stitch, no hoop needed.  She also uses, tyvek, plastic, felt and vanishing or wash away fabric.

This is an example of thread painting on a painted canvas.  Priscilla uses a
lot of her own photographs in her fiber art.
Sometimes she uses them as is, but often times she photo shops them
into a modern type design that she likes.

The skeleton leaf is a drawing she downloaded, hooped with wash away
stabilizer and free motioned stitched.

The words above were stitched on Vanishing Stabilizer. (Wash Away in warm water)

The Meadow above was a fabric collage on
Aqua Bond with free motion stitching.

Priscilla likes doing free motion faces on vanishing fabric.

Contour drawing face colored in with ink tense pencils.

Swallowtail was printed on fabric
 and stitched on vanishing fabric.
This is a lovely soft scarf made with yarns and other snippets,
layered between two sticky vanishing stabilizers.  Two sticky pieces were way too sticky. Gums up the needle.
Stitching on felt allows for more stitching and more dimension.

My Mother Left Me Her Words
Priscilla photo transferred some of the letters her Mother had
written her years ago.  She then use the text to quilt the piece. Her Mother is in the top photo and she is in the bottom.

She makes lots of sample pages to keep track of threads, fabric, stabilizers etc.
