The Lakeshore Fiber Arts Guild’s first meeting of their new program year will feature guild member Sue Vegter speaking on “Adventures in Natural Dyeing” on Wed., Sept. 5, at the Holland Area Arts Council, 150 East 8th St., Holland, MI 49423, starting at 6:30pm. We encourage anyone interested in the textile and fiber arts to join us.
Sue Vegter’s talk will be inspired by the flowers and plants we see every day and all the possibilities of achieving a beautiful color from them, whether dyeing yarn or clothing. She will discuss the use of natural dyes, how to prepare a dye bath and share her experiences with natural dyeing-- both her successes and failures. Examples of her work will be available.
After retiring from a technical career, Sue Vegter has been a knitter, spinner, weaver and dyer. She is active in Woodland Weavers and Spinners, Lakeshore Fiber Arts Guild and Michigan League of Handweavers. She and her husband reside in Holland.
The Lakeshore Fiber Arts Guild invites anyone interested in the textile fiber arts to their monthly program meetings held the first Wednesday of each month at the Holland Area Arts Council.
