Byron
Center, Michigan – The Lakeshore Fiber Arts Guild’s next program meeting will
feature Jan Coray on “Back to Basics: Easy Paper Cutting Techniques and Ideas,”
on Wed., Nov. 4, at the Holland Area Arts Council, 150 East 8th St.,
Holland, MI 49423, starting at 6:30pm.
Non-members are asked to pay $5 toward the speaker’s fee. For those wishing to participate in the
hands-on portion, should bring a pair
of scissors for cutting paper that are comfortable in your hand. Scratch paper
will be supplied but bring copy or origami weight paper of your choice.
A Holland resident, Jan Coray will talk about what brought her to paper cutting and what she’s tried. Examples to be
shown are trees, flowers, leaves, vegetables (including pumpkins), sunshine,
butterflies, snowflakes, "paper doll" chains, cityscapes, faces,
hearts, totems, wreaths and more. We'll
try our hands at snowflakes and trees. Specific requests will be addressed if
time allows.
Jan Coray’s work experience
includes being a teacher, librarian, bookkeeper, administrative assistant,
English and Contra dance caller, organizer and dancer. She is currently a volunteer at the Commons
of Evergreen Senior Center in Holland where she has taught Paper Cutting for
Beginners. I love to explore a variety of arts and crafts, garden and dance.
