We ate, we talked, we had show and tell, and we exchanged ornaments

The December meeting is always special.  It brings out the true meaning of friendships formed during the past years.  Everyone brings such a special dish to share, show and tell is always unique, and our ornament exchange is wonderful.

"Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you; spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life."

I for one never like to hurt anyone's feelings, so I like to try a little of everything. All good.

“Cyanotype” with Lin Culver

Cyanotype is an iron-based method of contact printing which results in a lovely blue-toned image on paper or fabric.  The process is simple and non-toxic and offers quick results requiring only exposure to the sun and development in running water.  It is an old photographic technique that we are most familiar with through architectural blueprints.

Lin Culver, raised in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, with talented and crafty Mom and Grandmas, she was surrounded by creative women.  Lin signed up as an art major in college because it sounded like fun, and her near forty-year career as an art teacher provided loads of it!  Now she plays with her artsy friends and tinkers in her new studio at home.  Fiber arts is Lin’s main focus:  weaving, spinning, feltmaking, dyeing, stitching, and photo related printmaking make me happy, as does passing her little bit of knowledge on to others!

Lin brought lots of samples.

Remember you can click on a picture to enlarge it.

After Lin explained the process of "Cyanotype" we all got to make our own little printed image using some already prepared paper and her pressed leaves.

Following are the pictures from our hands on adventure.

Such a sunny lovely day.
