What a fun busy day making fabric beads, Inkle Loom weaving with cards, and making fabric collage postcards. Thank you Susan J. and Priscilla for gathering all the supplies for us.
Remember you can click on a picture to make it larger. You can also right click on an image and save as.
We had 3 cakes too, forgot to take a picture of those. So good.
Several ladies enjoyed making a collage card. Priscilla brought fabric with wonder under already fused on so all we had to do was cut and iron to create a fun card. Priscilla learned this technique from Sue Benner. Sue Benner Web Site
Sue has some beautiful wall hangings under "Commissions and Projects".
CARD WEAVING ON AN INKLE
LOOM. With instructions and pre-warped looms we gave card weaving a
try. Card weaving uses an inkle loom and cards with holes in them to control
the pattern. You will end up with a strap, widths varying, which you can find
many uses for or if you are like me (Susan J.) stashed in a box in the closet!

Straps are an excellent use of these weavings. |
Susan does have a wonderful box of weavings.
FABRIC BEADS. We also made simple beads from fabric. The instructions are at Art Beads but we were given written instructions from
Safiyah Fosua, a member of WWSG.
These are not actually our beads, if anyone has a picture when they are finished making them please send it to me. Susan had us use Mod Podge for Fabric, which we painted on the triangular strip of fabric and rolled on a coffee stirrer. After this dries, we will put 3 coats of Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe Gloss, a coat a day. My beads are at the top drying. They need a little trimming also.

Susan bought this wonderful piece of art of a partially made Indian Rug. |
|
Lin made the above wool feltings in an online class with Fiona Duthie |
.Most turned out as she expected, but not all. The vintage dog was one of her earliest memories
working with color, her Grandmother had her arrange the little squares of fabric
and then her Grandmother made them into the little dog.
|
Priscilla brought this 1940 vintage embroidery. Below are 2 tapestries that Priscilla made. |
Wendy brought this silk woven tapestry, 1930-40 era.
|
Pam made the jacket she has on, the silky blouse and the quilted jacket below all from the same pattern. She used a Linda Lee pattern from The Sewing Workshop. |
|
Her hands are through the pockets across the top. |
|
To get the texture in this jacket, she put cotton fabric on top of a really good knit fabric from Natalie Chanin and then stitched and quilted. When washed it gave it a nice texture. |
