September starts us out on a new day and at a new place. We are now meeting on the 3rd Friday of the Month at the 1st Reformed Church in Holland from 1:00 to 4:00. More information under meetings. This first meeting was all about getting together and enjoying Show and Tell. Some ladies have been working non stop and some of us have not.
Jennifer has been having a wonderful time in her garage with Deconstructed Screen Printing. Every time she makes a print it is different from the last. She uses Procion dyes.
|
Jennifer made lots of color sample sheets. |
After viewing the Bisa Butler exhibit in Chicago Priscilla wanted to try her hand at portraits. She made 2 portraits of her Mother using 2 different techniques.
Most of Priscilla's summer projects have consisted of Eco-Printing on silk, wool, merino knit and cotton fabrics. She uses various mordants before printing.

This is a sweater she printe |
Her Journals are also a work of Art.
Margaret refurbished an old worn blue shirt by using surface dyeing designs. She took a class based on the Color in Spinning Book.
Susan has been busy making quilts and weaving lots of projects.
|
She used African Fabrics in this quilt. |
|
The above quilt was made from a kit she bought. |

This baby blanket has 700 warp threads, very soft feel |
|
This is a Rep Weave |
|
Susan also made several towels. |
Judy made these weavings using just the gold and blue thread as warp. She changed the weft to get all the different colors. This was from a class with Su Butler, a Double Weave Class.
Pam did not feel like any more clothes, so she has been working on these 2 quilts.
|
Instead of making clothes she put them in her quilt. |
Wendy chose to wear something she made a few years ago. She made this for a Saf_T_Pockets contest and won the People's Choice Award. It was displayed at the American Sewing Guild Expo in Detroit.
Nancy was working one of her baskets during the meeting. She will be talking about this at our October Meeting.
